Wednesday!!1

Sometimes (all the time) you just wanna get some pho, and the idea makes you really excited.

Especially when you get there and realize that it's the best phomaker in the world. Seriously, all you people who are opening pho places in the city need to steal this dude. He's about yay high, Vietnamese, and remembers us every time we come.

Here's a spiral pain d'epis from yesterday.

And So Begins the iPhone Photo Dumps

I hadn't believed it when I read about it, but it seems that in fact the crips are invading DC:

I will say for the record that I didn't know that crips threw boomerangs.

In other news, after admitting that she doesn't like Arby's or Venture Brothers, Abby reiterates that she doesn't like Pho. While joining us for Pho.

Plus! New For Better or for Horrible.

The Changing of the Shoes: Part II

It's happening every nine months now, it seems.

BONUSBONUSBONUS People who go to my bar are both drunks AND grammar nerds. Who corrects a flyer for a video game promotion in a bathroom? This person:

Also: Teebz and I went to Pho on Wednesday and it was empty. Sign #17 of the impending apocalypse.

Best & Worst Things of the Year: 2007

Best:

1. Pho

2. "What's a Girl to Do" - Bat for Lashes. Took over as "Song I Want to Hear Continuously" from Peter Bjorn & John's "Young Folks."

3. Zoe Bell's existence. Anybody who says anything bad about her stunt sequence in Death Proof is probably involved with organized crime, and will likely spend all eternity in hell.

4. The death of Jerry Fallwell. At the time I got a little grossed out by the backlash against a really easy target, but it's a really nice feeling knowing that he's not out there to say stupid shit anymore.

5. New bike

6. Technology

7. Not being robbed (Bummer note: I wrote this before buttholes robbed my sister)

8. Vincent D'onofrio's perpetual descent into madness

9. Achewood. Natch.

10. Health insurance. Oh, wait.

Worst:

1. Jason Lee's complicity in live-action destructions of classic cartoon characters for live-action feature films of Underdog

and Alvin & The Chimpmunks.

To come in 2008: Jason Lee's body washes up on the banks of the East River.

BONUSBONUSBONUS Another good thing: Will Arnett has been chosen to be the new voice of KITT in NBC's resurrection of Knight Rider.

Checking in with America

Because today was a day, we went to have Pho for breakfast/dinner. It was delicious. When we were done, a couple sat down across from us and proceeded to have what might have been the most important conversation in the history of the world.

Unfortch for me, I didn't bring my camera so I couldn't tape it surreptitiously. Lucky for me, Ana has a good memory and reminded me what they said so I could transcribe it and provide it for you lucky people.

Please: enjoy! Nothing is made up.

Back and Killing Things Indiscriminantly

New camera is everything I dreamed it would be: it takes photos and allows me to seamlessly transfer them to my personal computer. In short, what people used to dream about. Today I took it out for a spin.

First, I took a bad picture of Ana stretching in preparation for eating pho:

Which may sound weird unless you knew that she was going to fill her belly with cow tendons and raw steak:

After that we went to see Senior at Rusticles, where she is "cocktailing". Since she was lolligagging around southeast Asia a month ago, she sees this development as a bummer. We see it as funny. Ha, ha! Dana, you're bummed!

When we got home, my copy of Mac OSX 10.5 LEOPARD was waiting for me. Of the 300 new features, the only one I am likely to use: new backgrounds for PhotoBooth! Look! Four pictures of me as if I were underwater!

Then I remembered that there's this new cat in the house. I was pretty sure she was still alive, but I thought I should take some pictures to convince her former owner. Look, former owner! She's even eating!

She loves being photographed. I've heard that's the case with kidnap victims.

Such a pretty cat. Aren't you! AREN'T YOU?!!

Oh yeah, there's other, older, fatter cats still in the house.

Also, there are also dudes ready to go out on the town.

BONUSBONUSBONUS A drawing of Ana and me (in my best Don Martin style) from a long time ago that I just re-found:

(She added the unicorn crying blood.)
